As far as Brazil is still consider to be the best team, I really believe that our team (Bulgaria) has chance to beat Brazil, and it will be really a deciecive match.

quote bulgarian coach Martin Stoev: "We will play to dead, we will not give up after this loss" ;)

Yeah, As I said, that's sport. But how about Russia, you are in the less difficulkt group, only russia is a strong team and in our group only egypt is a weak team, although groups only decide the order of matches it is good to know that you already have 5 victories against the team, I don't think it' fair that way - Bulgaria, USA, Brazil, Spain and Puerto Rico to be in one group in the beggining.

I'm not sure this is a good thing for Russia.

They will have to face the best teams in 3 days. If they lose against Bulgaria, (not mention Spain that they will have to face before) this will be hard for them to fight against all the other best team right after.

And the other teams could rest their best players against Tunisia, Argentina or Japan.

That answers the question of Ruskii about Alekno resting his best players on the second game. He had to do it right after the beginning of the WC because he won't be able to do it in the last games due to the Russian schedule.

Yeah, maybe you are right. And after all the tournament is very interesting up to now.

BG,

Giba is obviously a very good player, even outside the NT. I mean, it is for a reason that he get's paid a fortune in Iskra. He was also considered MVP in the Italian league, so I don't want to be unfair to him.
But I think we both agree on him, which is good, because some people are fanatical and will not admit he isn't the absolute best.

As for Marcelo, yes, I agree, it's hard not to compare him to Ricardo, but I guess we can only draw a definitive conclusion by the end of the WC.
Do you think Ricardo is better than Mauricio was?

By the way, who do you think is a mediocre player? I think most of them are pretty good, albeit not espetacular.

Armel,

I agree with you that this isn't good for Russia. As for Alekno, you are also right, but I think he could mix up the players, because of the importance of points average.

About Giba: Yes, he is good and he is really important for Brazil, but I would definetely agree with you that he wouldn't be able to support a team on his own, like some other players like Milikovich and Poltavsky.

About Marcelo: He is not being the disaster I thought he would be. But then again, we would be much better off with Ricardo. As for Ricardo, I do think he is better than Mauricio. I mean, Mauricio was a wonderful setter but Ricardo just changed the way we play volleyball.
Actually I think Marcelo is just a good setter after two of the best setters the world has ever seen.

About mediocre players: I don't know if you remember a brazilian middle blocker named Henrique? I think he was pretty weak... he couldn't play well at all with other setters (maybe with Mauricio, but definetely not outside NT).

Excellent match! Gustavo MVP.

Brazil played really well. Everybody played fairly well, especially Gustavo.

As for Bulgaria... not a good match. Brazil really had a good strategy to stop the outside hitters. Nikolov was not good at all...

Now it is time to focus on Russia... :wink2:

Congratulations on the deserved victory, Brazilian guy. Your team was better. These are awfull days for me, the mistake was in the yesterday's match, they've just had more luck. :( But these losses will not take us down, we will continue with the victories soon. One love, one nation, one team - BULGARIA FOREVER!!!

Well my friend, I think losing is part of the game also. Bulgaria now can focus on beating Russia so they can increase their chances of qualifying for the OG. The European qualifying will very hard so I strongly advise Bulgaria to take this chance. Poland, Italy and Serbia will fight hard for a spot....

yeah, of course it's part of the sport, but today's lost, I have nothing to say, you were better, you have won, but yesterday.... :x it was a chance, I hope Brazil will beat Russia, and in that case the russians will play seriously in their last match against USA.

Brasil and Russia are in the best situation know, but we have to remember that Russians haven't played against strong teams yet. There is a very interestng situation after these couple of games: five teams with 8 points  And this amaizing Peurto Rico - they look like they are able to win or lose to everybody. Mysterious team.
I'm sure that both RUS and BRA are going to qualify. Who will be the third? It is hard to say/ Bulgaria still has chances, but I suppose we can have some surprise...

Yes, but they also beat Spain and USA, which are not much weaker than Bulgaria for example. I meant, that is evetyhing possible with this team now. During the last WCH they couldn't win against such a good teams.

Brazil owned Bulgaria, strongly. Gustavo did a great match. Bulgaria, on the other hand, was a complete desaster. The only aspect of their game which worked was the serves, but then Brazilian reception did a great job.
Zhekov's performance is just bad. I thought he did a good WCH, but in this WC... Salparov isn't a great libero either.

Brazil had a better point average against Bulgaria than Russia did against Japan, which really sucks.
Russian team sometimes seem so over confident and uninterested, Poltavski being the biggest example of that. The third set against Japan was ridiculous. If not for our strong block...

It seems the only way for the US to have a chance to qualify for OG during the WC is to win out, including an upset against Russia. This would be very difficult. I do not know when the last time the US has defeated Russia in an important match. I saw two exhibition matches several years ago in Texas where the US and Russia split but i do not believe all of the best players where playing for either team.

Well, what can I say, we are well revenged. Sweet. :D Poltavsky serves are just amazing, they saved us in the first set.
Second and third set were pretty easy, the block finally started to work. This victory was very important, we were able to make a great point average, so I hope Australia put up a hard game against Brazil later - unlikely.
