Russia, Bulgaria and Serbia not playing? ?(
or they have qualified already?

And he hears the ewes' tender reply;
He is watchful while they are in peace,
For they know when their shepherd is nigh.

Pool E, St.Jean D'Illac (France)

Day 1

Ukraine - Finland 0:3 (18:25, 23:25, 16:25) stats

France - Austria 3:2 (14:25, 25:19, 22:25, 25:16, 18:16) stats

Day 2

Finland - Austria 3:0 (32:30, 28:26, 25:17) stats

Ukraine - France 3:0 (25:18, 25:20, 25:21) stats

Finland almost secured 1st spot. They need 1 set vs France or Austria to take 1 set vs Ukraine.

Italy - The Netherlands 3:0 (25:23, 25:14, 25:18 ) stats

The ranking of CEV Youth Volleyball European Championship 2011 is:

1-SERBIA
2-FRANCE
3-RUSSIA
4-BULGARIA
5-SPAIN
6-GREECE
7-BELGIUM
8-TURKEY
9-POLAND
10-UKRAINE
11-GERMANY
12-FINLAND

Last champion Serbia, bronze medalist Russia and semi-finalist Bulgaria has already been qualified thanks to ranking of previous Junior Championship. On the other hand, the biggest surprise of qualification tournaments is elimination of last finalist France :what: In second round they are defeated by Spain and in third round, although they win over Finland since they lost match with Ukraine 3-0, last youth championship's finalist France couldn't manage to qualify same generation of junior championship.

Spain,Greece, Belgium and Turkey got the first place of their group in second round.

Poland qualified as host with Denmark

Germany and Finland qualified from third round with Italy.

All in all, after two years, France and Ukraine is out of competition whereas Denmark and Italy are new comers. We will see how much do these teams develop after championship from youth level to junior 8)

You are mixing up junior and youth championships. Russia, Bulgaria and Serbia were 1st, 2nd and 3rd in 2010 and were automatically qualified for this year's event. France finished between 9-12 so they had to play qualies

Nope, in this generation French played final when they were youth. Now They are junior level and even didn't qualify to finals  Player who finished 9-12 has already in their senior year so comparing with last year's youth and this year's junior makes more sense since the same players are playing

The team is more or less the same. The only big problem is that the regular libero is injured and the coach is trying different options there.
