This is not a vote who did an amazing job with your team, but who did an amazin job overall for all teams in the world and yes, I think you are not obejtive, even though ofcourse you are entitle to have your own oppinion.

Alekno won 2 GOLD medals, including one by defeating Brazil in a final, and that is the first title for Russia since 9 years or so. More over he won with this team another GOLD (not bronze, not silver) later on. Russia have always had great players, some goes for Poland, but winning titles is not like winning medals, it is MORE. Besides Poland has won gold medal before in the past (and btw it was sooner than Russia untill this year), so it isn't something new for them. (more likely the last year Poland underferporm and now is back ot its true level, rather than achiveing something extrodinary).

2 GOLD meadals >>> 1 GOLD medal >> 2 BRONZE medals + 1 SILVER medal.

While Anastasi can be a contender for a place into top 3 coaches, he is objectively and result wise not the best one this year. Alekno also did a good job with his club too...

Yes, but If you take into account the power of the team which won the title, the title of Serbia is the biggest surprise this year. It is easier to win with Russia than with Serbia, you have more balanced team with a lot of choices for each position
The title of Serbia was indeed a surprise and I picked it up for Kolakovic at second place, but still I think Alekno deserved my vote more. Second for Kolakovic.

According to achievements in only this year

Female :

1) Angelina Grun (she has an incredible turnback from both outdoor to indoor and from OPP to OH, this was really challenging and she was great contribution to silver medal of Germany)
2) Milena Rasic (she has also amazing development for previous seasons and played as a world class MB although she is only 21 years, she is one of the most promising player for her generation. And was the most important player for Serbia)
3) Carolina Costagrande (she show impressive performance especially when she played as an OH, her real position, and show us that she is only good-shaped all aroung OH in the world in the aspects of receving and attack)

And I really want to stress that Catherina Bossetti has an incredible year also, she will be on my top list in the next year for sure

Coach : Giovanni Guidetti

wow, what happened with Osmokrovic, she forget to play when she left FB?

its funny that you all forget on her, and its even funnier that nobody mentioned Kolakovic, he succeed to win EC with average team with only one really top level player!
Also, Muchetchon is not my favorite, he is one of rear trainers that has such a strong team, he has not 2 top players on each position but 3 or some times more and he succeed to lost medal on WC and US team didn't impressed me a lot on World Cup!

I really don't count success club level, moreover there were more better player having impressive performance and titles than her!

i vote for the players of the year due to their consistent good performances all through the whole year or his/her big games in typical tournaments.
i also vote for one player as the alternative of the top 3 player, just for fun and involvement only, because 3 players are so limited to cover all players with good performance in this year.

Mens Volley

Coach of the year - Vladimir Alekno (RUS)

Players of the year

1. Maxim Mikhaylov (RUS) - WC 2011
2. Zbigniew Bartman (POL) - WC 2011
3. Michal Lasko (ITA) - ECH 2011, WC 2011

4. Ivan Miljkovic (SRB) - ECH 2011 (for alternative only, no for ranking)

Womens Volley

Coach of the Year - Massimo Barbolini (ITA)

Players of the year

1. Carolina Costagrande (ITA) - WC 2011
2. Hooker (USA) - WGP 2011
3. Leo Lo Bianco (ITA) - for her year

4. Lindsey Berg (USA) - for her year (for alternative only, no for ranking)
i may not be the tallest,
the fastest, or the strongest,
but at least i can do one thing better than anyone else,
to be me...

I think that any proper evaluation should take into account several variables:

1. What the player won

2. Where the player won it - Club, NT, strength of competition, number of games. Club championships should not get excluded, Messi would never win Ball D'Or with this kind of judgement.

3. How much of these victories depend on the player, individual prizes, places in different statistical rankings.

4. Player's leadership - what is the non-scoring effect on others - does he/she aspires them, gives them courage, leads by example, takes responsibilities
5. Player's sportsmanship - did he/she play for loss, does he/she quarrels with judges and opponents a lot, does he/she respect fans, journalists and normal people?

For coach is similar with 3 harder to evaluate.

not at all, you are wrong about me, I don't make fun of you, but let forget about that and see what Osmokrovic achieve in 2011.
She won everything in Turkish competition and was one of the main players in FB, she won club WC with Rabita, she chose not to play for Croatia but that cannot make her less player than she is. I take Osmokrovic as example not because she is my favorite player, actually she is not, but I cannot be ignorant and say that she is not one of the best player on the world in this moment.
All of this writing is just to let most members to know that this is pure subjective personal opinion and that have nothing with real deal.

Same with coaches, where is Terzic, he won EC with national team, was 3rd on Grand Prix and succeed to save Perugia with crapy team to go in second division, but for some reason most members here don't like him and that's why he is not mentioned at all!

he probably meant to say you are a fan of her. That's more logical.

about Nati. Surely she is still a great player and she played really well in 2011 but that's not enough to make her one of the best players in this year. She was not in her best shape this year when she was still playing for Fenerbahçe. I agree she was great at Doha but there was only Vakıfbank as a strong team and all the players were really tired and out of shape there. So those matches are not decisive in my opinion. For example Fürst played really great in many tournaments this year and she got many individiual awards. But noone is asking why she's not on the top of the lists. It's because everyone has different heroes and there are many players who played very well this year. So you can't expect everyone to share the same opinion with you. :)

I can't see any writing about Osmokrovic here, Vaio. I don't know if he wrote in any other part of the forum about Nati. He just gave here his subjective opinions and you blame him for forgetting Nati.

First of all, sorry for misspelling, as vyz mentioned what I've meant was fan of her

About the part Vaio misunderstood, I never claimed that she is not one of the best in the world, just not my favourite player anymore, it is obviously not related that she is not a player of FB

What Osmokroviç has achieved is not enough for MY best player list, Winning World Club Championship means nothing! (Yey, we beat weak african and dominic teams)

For the term in Fenerbahçe, being 3rd with that fantastic roster is not a reasonable achievement for Nati. And just focusing club matches is not that much challenge in my opinion whereas players like Costagrande, Rasic has to play in not only for their clubs but also their NT.

Moreover, Costagrande showed really great and constant performance at World Cup (which is obviously more competitive than Champions League) and also Grün show more impressive effort for coming back to indoor volley and achieving silver medal with that roster is more valuable for me than bronze meald at CL with FB's great roster

So it is not a discussion for who is better or best in the world, it is just a vote for choosing best player of the year according to individual opinion!

thats why I mentioned Osmokrovic, and specially because he is from Turkey and she left Turkish team, and suddenly forgot to play volleyball for serdar. Now about Costagrande, what with her season in Dinamo Moscow, how come that you forget that??? Yes she played good for national team but in club she didn't proved to be as serdar said only good-shape all-round OH in the world.

Are you sure you know what good shape means? It is a temporary situation, for recent months, she showed good performance. For instance Brasilian OH Mari is also very good player but she was out of shape during WC? She is not bad player, just not in a good shape. Thus, I didnot claim that Costagrande is the best OH in the world but she is the one who is in best shape. I hope you can figure out the difference!

By the way , it is getting boring to correct your misunderstanding again and agaşn, I just think Costagrande is in the best shape among all OH is the world, you have to learn to live with that  If you do not agree with it, just state your opion and put up with my perspective. You are just trying to put what I said in a wrong meaning! :cursing:

We're voting The best players...not our favourite players right here
I see some names that I don't really agree with being "The best players of this year".

Fully agree :drink: Same is with men coach. I agree Anastasi done great job with Poland but they didn't win single trophy unlike Russia. I gave my vote to Velasco because he did excellent job with Iran. Second choice would be Alekno, third Kolaković because they have won something!

Well, If you ask Why I choosed these 3 players, I can possibly explain properly.

Costagrande - She won the MVP award at WC. I'm absolutely sure Italy would have struggled a lot without Her. Her performance at WC was extremely strong. She was just a monster :white: One thing more interesting and surprising is It was her first year in Italy NT.

Rasic - She absolutely showed what A Huge Development is. She is only 21, however already one of the best MBs in the world.

Grun - She saved Germany. As we all saw, Germany struggled as hell at WGP this summer, but look at that! Germany became totally different after she came in. Winning the Silver at ECH and making great matches at WC. I think this is enough to explain why She is still a legend.

Coach Guidetti - Honestly, I didn't really like some of his silly desicions and his favourite players. But He leaded the team very well and made Great performances both at ECH and WC. He deserves to be chosen as 2011's Best Coach.

I think I'm objective enough. I couldn't choose players like Lenka,Martina,Laura Dijkema or Busra, even though I really like them.
We have done the same choice Emil, I'm totally agree with you!

:drink: :drink: :super: :super:
If we vote "The Most Impressive Young-Stars" as well, Tijana will be chosen with no doubt
